I am a specialist in Medieval Iberia.  My research to date has focused upon Arabic-speaking Christians (Mozarabs) translated the Bible from Latin into Arabic, as well as Mozarab annotators who made many notes in Latin manuscripts. In my monograph project, The Mozarabs’ Bibles, I am employing these translators, copyists, and annotators as case studies in the importance of the Arabic, Islam, and Latin culture among the Mozarabs more broadly.  I am also beginning a project on minority communities living in North Africa during the Middle Ages.  At College of Charleston, I teach Pre-Modern Travel and a course on Pre-Modern Biography.
